We afford owners an ability to see what they look like through the eyes and ears of a potential lender, investor and/or buyer. One of the many valuable skills we bring to business owners is the ability to see where they’ve been, where they are today, and most importantly, where they are heading – be it good or bad.
So often the business owner forgets to wear someone else’s shoes. If they were looking at their company objectively and honestly what questions would they ask themselves and how would they answer? What if they don’t know what to ask? How can they answer? What if they don’t know whether they’re right or wrong?
Being the owner of a business is a lonely place to be. The buck stops at their feet. No excuses. Business owners and CEOs are not perfect because they have a title. Business owners and CEOs can be made better first by their ability to recognize their strengths and weaknesses, and secondly by what they do with that recognition.
